SSR Symposium
The final program of the SSR Symposium is now available here.
As part of WADA’s 2020-2024 Social Science Research Strategy, to encourage collaboration and integration of social science researchers within the global anti-doping system, just prior to WADA’s 2024 Global Education Conference, the Agency will host a Social Science Research (SSR) Symposium on 27 February 2024 at Université Côte d'Azur in Nice, France.
The Symposium will bring together the SSR community, allowing researchers to share experiences of working in the anti-doping field. The main goal of this Symposium is to encourage discussion and collaboration on wider research issues, such as working with practitioner partners, multidisciplinary research, and the recruitment of athletes to research.
Poster Presentations
SSR Symposium: Poster boards will be made available for printed poster presentations.
GEC 2024: WADA, in collaboration with Agence Francaise de Lutte Contre le Dopage (AFLD) are pleased to be able to offer a platform for researchers to present their research findings via poster sessions to attendees of the WADA Global Education Conference.
Posters will be presented in digital format at the conference venue, being displayed on a rotating basis during the conference. Presenters will be assigned a station (screen, cocktail table and connections for laptop) and timeslots to present their posters to conference participants during one intermission break.
Cannes Games
The 2024 GEC will also be the occasion for its participants to communicate and exchange with others and build valuable connections by participating in various activities, thereby encouraging creative ways to network.
The “Cannes Games” aim at promoting team spirit by relying on each participant’s knowledge, assets, and skills. Get ready to have some fun and take part in various accessible games, from anti-doping quiz, to playing darts, or even try your hand at pétanque, a typical sport from the South of France.
Format of the Conference
During the Conference, participants will be engaged through presentations, discussions, and activities, which will take place in both plenary and breakout session format.
Coffee and lunch breaks will be centered around networking opportunities, allowing for more personal exchanges and bilateral discussions amongst participants.

Kady Kanouté Tounkara, Chair of the WADA Education Committee
I am pleased to invite all anti-doping stakeholders and clean sport ambassadors to join WADA’s fourth Global Education Conference (GEC), to be held from 27-29 February 2024 in Cannes, France. This edition of the GEC will be held in partnership with the French National Anti-Doping Organization, l’Agence française de lutte contre le dopage.
The Conference will provide the opportunity for anti-doping practitioners and researchers to discuss emerging trends, share best practices and reflect on how education can continue to further our efforts in the fight against doping in sport.
As a former athlete and team player, I believe that only through collaboration and communication can we raise the bar for anti-doping education. We must remain united to pursue our vision of a world where all athletes can participate in a doping-free sporting environment and preserve the spirit of sport. Everyone has a role to play, so I encourage you to come, state your position, and join the team.
I look forward to seeing you at WADA's 2024 Global Education Conference in Cannes!
-
Béatrice Bourgeois, President of the French NADO, Agence française de lutte contre le dopage
L’Agence française de lutte contre le dopage, the French Anti-Doping Agency, is delighted to host the next WADA Global Education Conference in France, on the eve of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Anti-doping education is one of the key pillars of doping prevention, and it is necessary to share our know-how and expertise to improve our programs and help protect our athletes.
The Paris Games are a major event that will inspire and promote sports in all countries. This is why we must make 2024 a decisive year for clean sport and the dissemination of its values for all participants. It is our responsibility to unite to make anti-doping a lasting Olympic and Paralympic legacy.
We hope to see many of you in France in 2024 and I say, see you soon!
-
Ayodele Ikuesan and David Smétanine, Co-Chairs of the Athletes' Committee, Agence française de lutte contre le dopage
The Global Education Conference is a great opportunity to bring the voice of athletes on a subject as essential as anti-doping to the sporting community and the general public, in France but also at the international level. The Olympic and Paralympic Games that France will host next year will be a unique opportunity to talk about clean sport and to work on all education levels that have an impact on this subject.
The members of the AFLD Athletes’ Committee are looking forward to participating in the many exchanges that will take place during this Conference to continue to defend the values of clean sport in France and throughout the world.
